The Black Chest is the fresco of a difficult period in the history of Romania, a period full of controversies and convulsions. One world collapses, another world rises. It is the first decade of communist Romania, it is the time of the “new man”, of the ideal of imposed equality. The social order is shaken, the scale of values is shaken, and the moral poles are disoriented. The conflict seems measurable by the definitive change of the circumstances, exclusively in ideologies.
