The resource book ADVANCED ENGLISH GRAMMAR PRACTICE. TENSE, ASPECT, MODALITY addresses specific applied aspects of some key concepts of English grammar: TIME, ASPECT, MODALITY
The book adopts an applied approach to enhance some fundamental theoretical notions of the verb phrase in a harmonised and coherent structure. In the six chapters the authors gradually introduce, in a logical sequence, a vast repertoire of inspired practice activities chosen to build up theoretical knowledge and the language competence of verb use in authentic contexts (Chapter 1- The Indicative Mood, Chapter 2 - The Subjunctive Mood, Chapter 3 The Conditional Mood, Chapter 4 - The Imperative Mood. Chapter 5 is devoted to aspects of modality and modal verbs in English, and the last chapter, Chapter 6 addresses the non-finite forms of the verb. The revision exercises at the end of Chapters 1 and 5 facilitate users to reinforce and/or test their level of understanding and the use of these concepts.
Designed as a functional tool, the resource book enables users to consolidate and better apply the verb-related theoretical concepts. The authors recommend the use of the resource book concomitantly with the theoretical resources dedicated to in-depth knowledge of the verb phrase.
Relying on a rich bibliography, the resource book frames an original systematization of traditional and contemporary views expressed in the specialized literature, critically processed in a variety of relevant practice activities. The bibliography includes references and current titles that define the complexity of the scientific approach undertaken by the authors.
