The Internațional Colloquium RECEPTION OF ANTIQUITY IN EUROPEAN CULTURES, The XIIIth Edition with the theme: GODS, SPIRITS ,CULTS, TOTEMS, BELIEFS AND MYTHOLOGY IN THE GRECO-ROMAN WORLD, organized by the DEPARTMENT OF ROMANIC AND CLASSICAL LANGUAGES, FACULTY OF LETTERS, UNIVERSITY OF CRAIOVA, on May 27, 2022, dedicates the works reunited in the volume of the colloquium IN MEMORIAM to Professor KATALIN DUMITRAȘCU, passed too early in eternity.
The volume of the International Colloquium RECEPTION OF ANTIQUITY IN EUROPEAN CULTURES is due to the present volume as a great homage IN MEMORIAM, which contains most of the works held within this XIIIth Edition, in which Her Ladyship is also found as a genius tutelary this time.We consider that what has been said about Her Ladyship is too few and I cannot fully convey the deep regret of all those who knew her and who collaborated with Her Ladyship, but we are trying through this volume to offer to Caesar what is Caesar’s.
The volumule contains very interestingly approached works of mythology about lesser-known myths. Very frequent are the studies that contain the analysis of cults in the Roman society and not only, studies about the religious right of war, presented for the first time in Romania by Professor Teodor Sâmbrian, an old and faithful collaborator of Professor Katalin Dumitrașcu and of the International Colloquium, studies about Roman religious institutions, about Christian education in the Roman Empire. Also, the theme of this edition has generated very interesting contributions in the fields of linguistics, lexicography, literary, gender studies, anthropology and cultural studies.
Therefore, the theme of GODS, SPIRITS, CULTS, TOTEMS, BELIEFS AND MYTHOLOGY IN THE GRECO-ROMAN WORLD proposed by us for the XIIIth Edition of the colloquium occasioned valuable contributions, multidisciplinary and original approaches, which we dedicate to the one that remains for all of us the EGREGIA FEMINA, MAGISTRA, SOCIA ET AMICA KATALIN DUMITRAȘCU.
SIT TIBI TERRA LAEVIS ET AETERNA MEMORIA!
