The 11th edition of The Reception of Greco-Roman Antiquity in European Cultures, International Colloquium, was an absolutely exceptional one, much like the Professor to which we dedicate the works in this edition, Ms. Dana DINU. We have purposefully chosen the theme of this edition – namely, Law, the edition being Under the Sign of Law, because Ms. Professor Dana DINU was, is and will continue to be a personality whose core virtues are corectness, justice, righteousness and good faith. Additionally, it is no coincidence that her zodiac sign, Libra, is depicted as a weighted scale, the symbol of the goddess of justice, who holds a scale in her arms which represents the balance and the fairness of the law, a principle that should govern all of mankind.

The papers in this homage-volume are all related to Ms. DINU’s areas of interest: classical philology, philosophy, religion, applied linguistics, lexicology, mythology, law, ancient history – mainly Greek and Roman, barring translation studies – especially because Professor Dana DINU is one of the few Latin translators focused on philosophy, being the most important Latin translator for Leibnitz’ philosophical writings. She was also the first to translate into Romanian some of Cicero’s works which had previously never been translated in our language.
