“Veritas” means “truth” in Latin. This highly generic concept has acquired a transversal value in all Occidental languages, which supports its widespread use in extremely diverse fields, such as philosophy, theology, science, literature or even plastic arts. This diversity of uses is due to the fact that the idea of “truth” has always rejoiced significant prestige, both on an ethical-moral and on a professional level, which is why reasonings have been justified based on “truth” criteria. However, life and reality frequently show that “truth” is not a univocal or definitive concept, that no one possesses it exclusively. Thus, in order to understand the essence of truth, both the specific truth/lie dialectic, and the relative dialectics such as “Truth/truth”, “truth/post-truth” are relevant. This method allows us to take enough distance in order to be able to consider skeptical views or “Dadaist” attitudes, helping us dismantle the concept of “truth” into various shades. Hence, we can improve our understanding of both the theses supported by highly complex theoretical and ideological systems, and of the practical reasons hidden by the interested and not at all ingenuous uses of the term/concept of “truth” and of the related terms, such as “post-truth”.
