This work aims to synthesize and depict, through the issues of the present, the essential moments and landmarks, the perennial values of the history of Romanian theatre and performing arts, starting with its immemorial origins, and until the first forms outlined and then consolidated by cult theatre in Romanian language. With the establishment of the first theaters, the phenomenon will crystallize, will be defined and redefined continuously, producing values in dramaturgy, the art of acting and the art of performance, even in the “art of receiving” the theatre, its magnitude and unstoppable vitality nowadays. This present work deals with the origins of theatre in Romania, the beginnings of original dramaturgy, the exceptional personalities, the incipient theatrical phenomenon pursued in its dynamics, often extremely complex, the aspects of reception and performance. The various mythical-magical forms of the local theatre of origins start from the fog of the last millennium to meet, in the late feudalism of the Romanian provinces, the sources of Western cultural modernity
