The acclaimed Metropolitan Bishop Nestor Vornicescu (October 1, 1927-May 17, 2000) is one of the leading figures of our Romanian Orthodox Church, leaving a considerable and lasting legacy on our ancient Oltenian lands. The coordinates of his hierarchical activity are both complex and inexhaustible in value, depth and relevance in the current context of church life. Moreover, his masterful figure of a tireless scholar and servant of the ancestral glory reveals our great forerunner today, nine decades after his earthly birth, both present and working, although, by the order of God, he becomes our caretaker and the one who prays for us in heaven.
