The author presents Human Dignity and Freedom as two rather problematic concepts at present. Multiculturalism, individualism, globalism, postmodernism and secularism have created a series of systems of opinion through which man has been induced the idea that his dignity and freedom represent, in fact, what he believes they actually are. Thus, in the name of dignity and freedom, a series of individual dignities and freedoms came to be born, which, without having an area of definition and manifestation, oscillated chaotically in the sphere of the abstracted indefinite. That is why it is difficult to talk about one’s dignity and freedom as long as the point of reference for defining these realities remains only that person who, unfortunately, promulgates his dignity and freedom according to momentary interests, passionate desires or hidden thoughts. It is that dignity and that freedom that everyone understands as they see fit. In this context, a series of questions inevitably arise, such as: What else does dignity and freedom represent for contemporary man? What are the limits of their definition? What role do they play in the life of the human being? In relation to what or with whom are human dignity and freedom defined? What is the deep support of these realities? Do they have an ontological substratum? Can they be lost, diminished or canceled? Who or what guarantees the dignity and freedom of every human person, etc.?
