The author describes divorce as unacceptable, but only tolerated if one of the spouses breaks the unity of the marriage through adultery and it becomes a divine dispensation. For the weakness of the human nature, only three church marriage ceremonies are accepted in Orthodoxy, some of them being received for the second and third marriage with repentance and retention from the Holy Eucharist according to the canonical tradition.
